octrdiena !!!!

 octrdiena, today lot of children came play with us !!! it was so cool on the morning we made origami : frog, beard, flower and monster

and on the afternoon olympic game , SPARTA won with 50 point but the other team was not so far with 41 points, apsveicam !!!!! see you tomorrow for new games !!!

pirmdiena

we finally organized our first activities with 

children in the morning handicraft every children create one monster, 

 and on the afternoon, we played outside to several game :D we saw that few children run faster than us ...

sesdiena, we assisted to a choir demonstration, almost 100 singers came to sing together, it was nice,  after this, a party was organized and we had lot of fun dancing singing, eating etc... at this moment we really enjoyed  latvian life!! 

amazing disco !!!!

Our first disco in Latvia was amazing !! we organized few games ( limbo, ball relay etc...) for all children !!

The disco was in Lidumi and DJ Alina was there to put the fire on the dance floor !!!!

We really enjoyed this disco we hope that you too , and we are ready for the next one !!!!

dance lesson

Today Damien gave his fist dance lesson. It was not easy with the younger girls because of the language, but Damien succeed and it was finally really fun; with the older one it was super. We got to know that we will participate to a dance competition!! :D Be careful others team our army is coming!!!

holidays planning !!!

Today we made the holidays planning, so if you are interested by any activities you can come to Kraujas, play with us, you're all welcome. Every morning we have movie program, after then handicraft activities and every afternoon we are going to organize a big game, so tell your friend to come :D

don't forget that on trešdiena we will organize a presentation of our country ( France and Romania ) from 18h in Kraujas !!!!!! 

First visit in Riga

Today we went to Riga with Inese and Alīna, we visited the old Riga and saw the most important places (train station , autoosta, shopping center). Great day, the weather was perfect to enjoy Riga. We really want to come back to Riga, visit more and enjoy the city.

in Riga  parks are really beautiful, but we are waiting for summer to can enjoy them truly

trakā sporta diena

On Saturday we took part on a sport competition with other young people from Staļģene. There were a lot of participants from another villages, one (or two) team from every civil parish. We played many unusual games, and finally our team, the "Lucky Friends" get the third place. We were happy!

First week in Latvia

It finished our first week in the EVS project. This week was like a preparation for our work, we met with Staļģene, the people living here, and with the other villages. The aim of this week was knowing better the life here, but for us the most important was meeting with children and young people. Our program was really colorful: we took part at some activities like traditional and modern dance lessons, choir repetition, school radio, sport competition and we played with the children in Kraujas. Here were a lot of new things what we had to learn like dance-movements, Latvian words and phrases and the peoples name (but a lot of people, a lot of names, sorry, we can't remember to all).

Knowing better this area is an interesting challenge for us. Staļģene is a small village, but here are so many activities, and also the countryside is nice.

EVS what is it

EVS : European Voluntary Service 

EVS is the European Commission's project that allows a young person (18–30 years) to become a volunteer in another european country for a specified period, normally between 2–12 months. The service activities can be, for example, in the field of environment, arts and culture, activities with children, young people or the elderly, heritage or sports and leisure activities. Each project has three partners, a volunteer, a sending organization and a host organisation. The project has to take place in a country other than where the volunteers lives, is non-profit-making and unpaid.

We are participating to the project called: “Know Yourself”. It's non-profit organization which does it work for local community with aim to promote Jaunsvirlauka civil parish citizen participation in social activities and to ensure development of civil sociaty in rural area.

first radio interview

at the morning we were at the school (scola) radio for our first interview made by students 

they ask us about ourselves, our country, our hobbies. 

The school radio is organized by the Latvian language teacher and some students. Every Friday we will be there and we will make small presentations about our culture.

first steps in Latvia

After a long travel, our plane land at 22h00 at Riga Airport, and finally we walk our first steps in Latvia with our heavy luggage. 

Arriving we met Alīna who is our mentor, we immediatly feel confortable with her.

When we arrived at the airport, Alīna organize a little surprise for us and came with youth  to welcome us.

They made posters for us with our name and with pictures of Staļģene.

Damien came 15 min after Enikő, and girls were looking for a tall men at the airport

Eniko: About myself

Hi!

My name is Eniko. I'm coming from Romania, from Gheorgheni (this town is in Transilvanian region), but I'm a Hungarian girl which means my mother tongue is Hungarian. I'm going to be a volunteer here in Staļģene for 9 months.

I'm 23 years old, and I'm a university student. Now I study tourism, but I have a Sociology and Anthropology degree too. I like animals (dogs and cats), reading, traveling and learning new things. My hobby is making handcraft works, and I would like to practice it also here.

I want to be a volunteer for a long time, because it's a good opportunity to learn languages and to meet another culture. But now I'm not feeling a big cultural difference between Latvia and Transilvania: I think we have the same problems, and our culture is similar too. For now I'm trying to learn Latvian language, and really like it.

So the journey begins!

Mani sauc Damien, man ir 20 gadu , ok that's all what I can say in Latvian for now, but you'll see I will try to do my best to learn Latvian as soon as possible.
I'm young guy from France, more precisely Paris.
I will live 9 month here in Stalgene, I'm participating to an EVS ( European Voluntary Service ) project

what do I like: - sport, music
                       -discover new people, travel and have new experience
                       - and sure have fun !!
